Deadline Day

I cannot believe that deadline is FINALLY here! And to be honest with you, I'm not happy about it because I don't want to leave. I will most likely be doing a Masters degree sometime in the near future but I think I will sort out some placements first.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cleveland College of Art & Design and I would reccommend studying here to anyone. The courses are well structured and the staff are just amazing. I will miss this!

Here's some of my finals :)

I managed to reach my original target of 25 surf wear designs, all unisex!

I hand this in in 35 minutes!

Well, it's all go!

I am looking forward to finishing my final major project but I still have so much to do! I am enjoying it though and I am excited to get myself into the textile world!

I am not working on fabric this year, instead, I have chosen to create print designs on paper. I am doing 20-25 designs... eek. It's even scarier seeing it on screen! I know I can do it though, I'm always drawing and doing research.

Today, I am going to try to find sponsorship. Fingers crossed!

Here is my work bay, where all the magic happens!

I have created 10 designs so far and as deadline creeps closer and closer, the pressure is on! Here are some of my designs so far...

I have created these with Photoshop and they are both in flat colour. I am experimenting with different textures, etc.

So much fruit! So many flowers!

Well, I've been drawing like crazy! I am enjoying it though, I feel like I have found a style that suits me. I haven't drawn anything in a while because at present, I have more than enough imagery to work with... which is good! :)

I have been taking a lot of photographs and my drawings are all observational.

...However, they may not look observational because I have drawn them all with my left hand in continuous line. This is a drawing technique that was mentioned a lot during first year and I have gone back to it as it works for me and my product area extremely well.

And some drawings...

Final Major Project

This year is going so quickly, too quickly in fact!

I have handed in my Minor Project and Dissertation and it feels surreal. I am currently working on my Final Major Project and I am enjoying it so much. I definitely feel like I have found my niche and style...finally! :)

My Final Major Projects consists of print designs for surf wear. I have looked through many journals, websites and surf wear companies which have all inspired me greatly.

I have deliberately picked a very commercial area of design and this puts pressure on me to be both unique and fitting with my chosen area. I am confident in my own ability to make my designs stand out against the rest whulst still possessing commercial qualiities. Currently, I have 10 designs that I feel are successful but I am still playing around with colour, which is a vital part in my work.

Here are some pictures of my concept journal/starting point for my FMP. Please note that images are from sources such as journals, websites and books. I have used them to create inspiring mood boards.

Well, it's about time I started this thing!

I was told from the start of my second year of my FdA degree that it would be wise to create a blog...little did I know that it would be compulsory in my top up year to have one! Whoops...so here I am!

Pictures of work will be posted as soon as possible!
